Recently arrived from the markets in England, we were delighted to discover a quantity of these diminutive Vintage English Silverplate Egg Spoons with their petite, elongated bowls. Designed with a proportionally long handle above a narrow bowl, these spoons were created to reach and scoop out every last bite of a creamy boiled egg.
With close runner-up status as the national breakfast of England, the quick and nutritious repast of a boiled egg has inspired all manner of accessories from specialized cups to coddlers, and cruets to timers to spoons. Simple yet beloved, a breakfast of egg and toast is more colloquially known in England as jammy eggs, eggies or dippy eggs due to the narrow pieces of toast cut to size for dipping into the egg. These strips are affectionately known as 'soldiers', due to the straight and tall upright manner in which the long pieces of toast are dipped into the velvety egg.
With their versatile size and handsome fiddle head style long handle, the shimmering spoons are also ideal for serving jam, mustard, chutney or other condiments. Whatever their use, these elegant spoons produced by a variety of fine English silversmiths, are sure to be a lovely and practical addition to your cutlery and servingware collection - bringing an extra helping of style to any meal.
Dishwasher safe, but hand-washing preserves their shine. Spoons vary in length from approximately 4.75" to 5.5". Please allow us to choose spoons for you.
