Of course we all are familiar with the basics: knives, spoons & forks. But what about all those other serving pieces that the Victorians were so fond of? The proper Victorian had a specialized utensil for every conceivable food so they would never have to touch anything with their hands - and that led to one utensil more obscure and beautiful than the next!
Behold, the elegantly refined pieces that we lovingly refer to as Victorian "Pretty Bits"! With lustrous pearl handles and gleaming silverplate that is adorned with delicate engravings, these pieces are sure to be lovely additions to your collection. From a rare sterling silver cocktail fork crested with the Royal Hotel name and hallmarked from 1876, to an elegant jam spoon with its carved pearl handle, to a spreader with delicately engraved fish on its blade making it ideal for a delectable fish dip spread...these pieces are all splendidly, beautifully, wonderfully, obsessively Victorian!
But please remember as citizens of the 21st century we are allowed to break the Victorian rules of etiquette - feel free to use them for other purposes - the important thing is to use them! They will be happy to be called back into service!
