1951 Silverplate Llandudno Hotel Teapot
$125.00
This elegant and streamlined Vintage Silverplate Teapot from the markets of England is a neatly tailored souvenir of one of Wales' most beloved seaside towns:
Llandudno, "the Queen of the Welsh Watering Places." A gorgeous small town with imposing limestone cliffs nearby, the area is "a beautiful haven of peace" according to Elisabeth of Wied, the Queen Consort of Romania, who stayed there for 5 weeks in the late 19th century.
Perhaps the most charming and unique of
Llandudno's notable attractions is several large herds of wild Kashmiri goats, descended from a pair presented by the Shah of Persia to Queen Victoria, which sometimes roam the main streets of town. With the cliffs providing good nesting conditions, a wide variety of sea birds make their homes there, allowing for birdwatchers to delight in the sights of cormorants, shags, guillemots, razorbills, puffins, kittiwakes, fulmars and numerous gulls.
This lovely modern teapot made by Elkington & Co. dates to 1951, and was put to service in one of
Llandudno's hotels. Whether a souvenir of a special town or simply loved for its sleek aesthetic and storied provenance, this teapot is certain to be a lovely addition to your collection.
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In very good vintage condition. 9" at widest point x 5"H.
