Vintage French Gras/Maigre Sauce Boat

Jack and his wife would be quite pleased with this Vintage French Gras/Maigre Sauce Boat from France.

The sauce boat has two spouts, one labeled "Gras" - which means Fat in French, and one labeled "Maigre" - which means Lean in French. Taking advantage of the fact that fat is lighter than water and will naturally rise to the top of any sauce or gravy, the Gras spout is designed to pour from the richer sauce found at the top of the boat. The Maigre spout, on the other hand, is ingeniously designed to draw from the leaner sauce found at the bottom of the boat.
