Framed Fontainebleau Handtinted Photograph

Located just outside of Paris to the southeast is the historic town of Fontainebleau. The air is fresh and clean as a large part of the town is taken up by the former royal hunting grounds, the massive Fôret de Fontainebleau. In the center is one of the most beautifully decorated and furnished palaces in all of France, the magnificent Chateau de Fontainebleau. It is one of the largest French royal chateaux and was the residence of French monarchs for 7 centuries, from Louis VII through Napoleon III. The interiors of the palace are lavish examples of the French Renaissance style, with the opulence and splendor demanded by the emperors and Kings of France.

On the UNESCO World Heritage Site list, the Fontainebleau castle with it surrounding forests has long been a destination for travelers and a favorite weekend get-away for Parisians. This duo of hand tinted photographs of Fontainebleau's interior and exterior were rescued from an antique souvenir book found at market in France and lovingly framed in Chicago in a vintage frame that perfectly sets of the architectural beauty of Fontainebleau.
