Antique Silverplate Pullman Teapot

Inspired by the iconic luxury Pullman trains in the United States, the Pullman Car Company of Britain was founded in the late 1800s. Working with George Pullman's company in Chicago, the luxurious train cars were originally imported to England and began offering a new level of rail service. The first complete Pullman train, called the Pullman Limited, began service between London and Brighton in 1881.

All the Pullman cars were painted a distinctive umber brown and cream with the name of the car in large gilt letters. The Pullman trains were staffed with attentive stewards and offered an exceptional service more luxurious than ordinary trains.

A perfect example of this level of service is this handsome Vintage Silverplate Tea Pot produced for use aboard the Pullman trains of Britain. Produced by esteemed Walker & Hall silversmiths, with art deco lines and the regal Pullman crest stamped in the side of the pot, it is a lovely memento from the glory years of rail travel.
