Vintage Gold Encrusted Pickard Dinner Plates - Set of 12
Vintage Gold Encrusted Pickard Dinner Plates - Set of 12
SOLD
A toast to glamour, this stunning set of vintage dinner plates brings the opulence of the Roaring Twenties to your table. Found at market, each plate was originally a blank from Heinrich & Co., the esteemed Bavarian porcelain makers, and was exquisitely decorated by Chicago’s renowned Pickard China studios.
Produced circa 1925–1930, these plates showcase one of the era’s most coveted luxuries: a lavish gold-encrusted rim, etched in a damask-inspired pattern of scrolling flowers and leaves. In keeping with the lavish style in vogue during the Jazz Age, these lovely plates were a fabulous statement on the table, glimmering under electric or candlelight with equal panache. Pickard China would soon grace the table at the White House (FDR was the first president of many who would have Pickard China provide the presidential place settings). An heirloom set destined to impress!
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In very good vintage condition, circa 1925-1930. Handwash only. 11"D.
Learn More About Pickard China
The Pickard China story dates back to 1893 when Wilder Pickard established the company in Edgerton, Wisconsin. At the turn of the 20th century, Pickard moved its headquarters to Chicago where the company specialized in hand-painted art pieces and dessert and tea sets. Artists from the famed Art Institute of Chicago and all over Europe came to Chicago to decorate one of a kind ceramic pieces.
