Found at market just outside of Paris, this wonderful French blue and white compote by the venerable potters of Longwy is beautifully decorated around its top rim with a cheerful geometric pattern in blue.
Made at the renowned Faïencerie de Longwy - founded in 1798 in a former convent and a favorite of Emperor Napoleon I (who ordered tableware from Longwy for the Imperial Houses of the Legion of Honour) - this piece dates to the Art Deco era of the 1930s. A classic combination of blue decoration on white china, this delightful piece will be the perfect complement for any table or buffet.
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. Circa late 1930s. In very good antique condition. Compote measures 9"D" x 4.5"H.
