Found at market in the north of England, we are so pleased to offer this stunning set of 12 Edwardian Sterling Silver Teaspoons with Sugar Tongs made by Sheffield's renowned Allen & Darwin. Presented in their original cobalt blue silk-lined box from Fillians Jewellers of Market Walk, Huddersfield, with a date mark noting production in 1905, the handsome design of this magnificent set reflects the stately sophistication of the Edwardian era. A jeweler and watchmaker in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, William Fillans' fine shop on Market Walk was a familiar sight to generations. Opening for business in 1852 Fillans passed through five generations of family ownership with its landmark building still serving as a jewelers shop today. 

Completing an apprenticeship at Walker & Hall with additional managerial experience at James Deakin & Sons among other firms, Sidney Darwin first joined forces with Charles James Allen, a clicker (leather cutter) in the boot trade, in 1887. Based at Portland Works, 55 Arundel Street with an additional office in Holburn, London by 1914, the pair registered marks with the Sheffield Assay Office in 1887 and 1892, choosing to concentrate their firm on a small range fine silver and plated ware including fruit and dessert knives, fruit spoons, fish carvers, cigarette boxes, and cased goods.

Full of the striking glamour for which the Edwardian age was known, this magnificent heirloom set is certain to be an impressive presentation for an afternoon tea party, becoming a gleaming and prized addition to your silver collection.
