Antique French Enameled Glass Decanter
Antique French Enameled Glass Decanter
$150.00
The ancient technique of decorating glass with porcelain enamel has long been used to create uniquely dimensional works. In a process similar to that used for producing the sturdy enamelware found in kitchens and bathrooms, porcelain enamel is hand-applied to glass in lieu of a base of metal. The result is finely detailed art glass, timeless in its lasting beauty.
Found at market in France this fall, this lovely Antique Enameled Green Glass Decanter exudes an abundance of the fresh energy for which the Art Nouveau era was so cherished. With a delicate hand, richly-colored dimensional lilys have been applied to the lower decanter's ample lower sphere. Dancing gracefully around the lovely silhouette, additional gilt accents offset the glossy expanses of the applied enameling.
With its shapely original ground glass stopper hovering above the slender, decorated neck and glowing verdant presence, this stylish and serene decanter promises to infuse any setting with the romance and mystique of Belle Époque Paris.
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. 12.5"H x 4.75" at widest point. In very good antique condition.
