Bretzel Bernard & Boulangère Brigitte Mouse Ornaments

Recently returned to local life following a brief stint at the Royal Palace under Pâtissier Pierre, Bretzel Bernard is thrilled to be home. Life in Paris with the daily dangers of the catacombs was too much for sensitive Bernard, who much prefers the quiet life and strong sense of community to be found in his hometown. Proudly posing for Photographer Philip alongside triumphant sister Boulangère Brigitte, the two are seen presenting the delectable custom baked goods that secured top spots on Gracie's List this season.

After countless mouse years of effort and Bernard's return from the big city, Brigitte finally hit upon the creative spark needed to take their boulangerie's offerings from outstanding to sublime. Patented as a proprietary process Brigitte calls "custom dusting," this labor intensive finish ensures a one-of-a-kind flavor experience for each and every item. Expected to become next year's hottest industry trend, Brigitte was literally struck by the idea as she made her way home from the bakery on a stormy afternoon. Hair pulled back in her jaunty bow and nose quivering as she fought the vicious wind, she noticed the scent swept along on the breeze was distinctively different in every direction.

After some trial and error with a castoff hamster wheel and local botanicals, the two perfected an application method that guarantees a distinct and unique finish for each baked good. The real breakthrough came when daily foraged ingredients were added to an herbal blend that varies each week according to seasonal availability. Once all elements for a particular day are combined and laid upon the inner drum of the hamster wheel, one of the boulangerie's numerous volunteer apprentices takes a turn at running to spin the wheel as trays of bread and bretzels are set in the path of the cyclonic dust that is created by the motion of the wheel. Varying tray position and running speed, not to mention the composition of the blend, creates a different-yet-delicious crust taste profile for each fresh baked piece. With demand far exceeding the efforts of their single hamster toy, the two expect to ramp up production in the new year as soon as a second wheel can be secured!
