"Jack Sprat could eat no fat, his wife could eat no lean..."
Jack and his wife would be quite pleased with this masterpiece from the storied porcelain workshops of Mehun-sur-Yèvre. Crafted by Pillivuyt—renowned since 1818 for their exceptional French porcelain—this clever dish allows you to pour the lean from the bottom and the fat from the top of broths and gravies. A traditional design made by Pillivuyt for years, this Fat and Lean Separator is destined to become a staple in your kitchen.
The sauceboat has two spouts: one labeled “Gras” (Fat) and the other “Maigre” (Lean). Taking advantage of the fact that fat is lighter than water and naturally rises to the top of any sauce or gravy, the Gras spout is designed to pour from the richer sauce at the top of the boat. The Maigre spout, on the other hand, draws from the leaner sauce at the bottom.
Produced in sturdy, bright-white commercial-grade porcelain created to withstand the rigors of daily use, each piece is made in France and is microwave- and dishwasher-safe.
This oh-so-French sauceboat is simple, ingenious, and designed to delight everyone at the table!
6.5"W x 5"L x 3"H.
