Trusty town archivist and president of the local historical society, Nelson is on a well-earned sabbatical until the first of the year. Hesitant to close the records office and leave his lofty posts, industrious Nelson decided to use this newfound time to further increase the town’s impressive archival holdings. After making the arduous 67 kilometer journey to Paris, Nelson surreptitiously began accessing the National Archive offices via the city’s ancient network of catacombs.
Securing additional volumes has not been easy, but armed with his trusty magnifying lens, Nelson has discovered the very first broadsheets published in 1794 following the successful conclusion of the global Reaudent Revolution. This international fight for equality was successful in overturning mouse-year millennia of tradition to abolish the archaic feudal system of birth order hierarchy.
As luck would have it, during a particularly dicey tunnel encounter with a rogue squirrel, Nelson dashed smack into his brother-in-law Pierre, private pâtissier to the Royal Family! Thrilled to see Nelson and privy to a well-established pathway through the catacombs between the Royal Palace and the Archives, Pierre insisted on hosting Nelson at the Palace. With a personal valet at his service, luxury accommodations that include a lush suite of customized cigar boxes and more back issues than he knows what to do with, Nelson is now loathe to return to everyday life. Having succumbed to the lavish opulence of his glamorous Paris lodgings and exposure to the finer (and shinier) things of the glittering capital, it seems that stoic Nelson may be spoiled forever!
