Found at market in France, we are so pleased to offer this evocative Antique Miniature Portrait, capturing with remarkable tenderness the likeness of a young child from another age. Beautifully painted in delicate detail, the diminutive portrait is presented beneath glass within its handsome oval frame, where a warm gilt inner surround contrasts handsomely with the deeply patinated black wood.

Before photography made it possible to preserve a likeness with relative ease, miniature portraits offered an intimate way to keep the faces of those most beloved close at hand.
