Antique French Sterling & Glass Vanity Bottle

Recently acquired from a lifelong silver collector, we are pleased to present these exquisite Antique French Sterling & Glass Vanity Bottles. Adorned with beautiful engraving in a lovely feminine garland motif, each bottle culminates in a gleaming silverplated cap. A spectacular sunburst pattern has been cut into on the underside of each bottle to aid in showcasing liquid contents to great effect as they move and dance in reflected light. Stamped with the head of Minerva, a French mark indicating fine quality sterling silver, each bottle is slightly different in size and each contains an original glass stopper ensconced below the silver cap. Intended for travel, the stopper would have aided in keeping liquid contents securely stored within the bottles during the hustle and bustle of a jostling train or coach.

Specialized containers for toiletries, eating and drinking, sewing, and writing, along with tools and conveniences were popular personal items to acquire as travel became accessible for more members of society in the 19th century. These bottles, designed for use as part of a portable dressing set, would have held an assortment of the traveler's preferred scents and potions. With a glamorous demeanor and refined elegance that promise to remain fresh yet timeless, each of these magnificent bottles is sure to bring its sophisticated presence to any setting.
