The Victorian Era, named after England's Queen Victoria, lasted from the 1830s to the turn of the 20th century and was an era of opulence and beauty in the British Empire. It was a time when everything brought to the dinner table had its specific utensil, serving piece, or means of presentation: from marrow spoons and lemon forks to nutmeg graters, grape shears, and berry spoons.
Found at an antiques market in northern England, we are so pleased to offer this magnificent Victorian Silverplate Berry Serving Spoon Pair. In their original fitted presentation case, lined in ice blue satin, the set includes a pair of matching berry spoons. These sparkling tabletop treasures were designed for serving fresh fruit. The bowls of the spoons are intricately embossed with an abundant assortment of leafy fronds and fruits and are parcel gilt to protect the silver from fruit acids. The handles are expertly hand-engraved with lovely decorations.
A wonderful addition to your silver collection, let them beautify your breakfast table, then bring them back out after dinner to dip into fruit salads or even meringues, puddings, sorbets, and ice cream!
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In very good antique condition. Box measures 11.25" x 5". Berry Serving Spoons measure 9.5" in length.
