Imperial Russian Silver Cigarette Case
Imperial Russian Silver Cigarette Case
$395.00
Found at market far, far from its origins in Imperial Russia, this elegant Antique Russian Silver Cigarette Case is a survivor from the end of another age in a world that soon change forever.
Bearing hallmarks for its year of creation (the coronation year of Tsar Nicholas II), assayer Aleksandr Vladislavovich Skrovronsky, Moscow's city mark of St. George and the dragon, a Cyrillic maker's mark of "ФПП,' (FPP), and a silver purity mark of 84 zolotniks (equalling 87.5%), this case would have made a stylish statement as it safeguarded an evening's supply of cigarettes.
With a lovely floral engraving on its front, the case closes securely with as confident a "Click!" as it did one hundred and thirty years ago. This distinctive accessory feels comfortingly luxurious in the hand and is sure to become a favorite for your vanity, purse, pocket, or desk. Slighty too petit for modern filtered cigarettes, but a perfect fit for business cards, bank cards, a stash of cash, and those tiny bits of ephemera we seem to carry with us like talismans, we've restored its elastic straps to keep the case functional in the modern era. This imperial Russian case is a rare find that is certain to delight for at least another lifetime of natty adventures!
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. Measures 4"W x 2.5"L x 0.5"H. In very good original antique condition.
