A sculptor, illustrator and caricaturist who showed early talent for drawing, Albert Dubout began art studies at L'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Montpellier before moving to Paris and publishing his first illustrations in 1924. With a playful artistic evolution that led from traditional fine art to a decidedly whimsical and satirical style, Dubout reveled in exploring themes of human folly and showcased a keen eye for satire. His drawings are notable for exaggerated characters within absurd, heightened scenes. 


Animals, particularly cats, were often a source of inspiration with his love for cats leading to more than 90 portraits and scenes.
