Our Silverplate Soup Spoons from England are one of our favorite offerings. In the United States, we have grown accustomed to using a tablespoon as a soup spoon. Not so in Great Britain! These are fully restored and replated Soup Spoons that have the distinctive round bowl.  

Much like our Vintage Hotel Flatware, the spoons vary in pattern. Some are simple, some are more ornate and some are stamped with the crest of a hotel or restaurant. The lengths of the spoon handles also vary, from a more traditional 6" - 7" in length to a majestic 7 1/2" - 8 1/2" in length. 

We're quite certain that once you've tried them you won't want to go back to your basic "one-size-fits-all" tablespoon!

Before about 1700, people generally brought their own spoons to the table. Spoons were carried as personal property in much the same way as people today carry wallets, key rings or mobile phones.

From about 1700, the place setting became popular, and with it the "table-spoon," "table-fork," and "table-knife." Beginning in the 18th century and exploding during the Victorian era, there was a proliferation of different sorts of spoons, including the teaspoon, coffee spoon, dessert spoon, and soup spoon.
