Proudly produced in the 1950s by Syracuse China, this handsome scalloped Vintage Syracuse China Side Plate is decorated with a striking slate blue and cashmere taupe rim.

Originally formed as the Onondaga Pottery Company (O.P. Co.) in 1871, this pioneering manufacturer would eventually make the town of Syracuse, New York synonymous with American-made china. Named Onondaga for its home county, O.P. Co. products began sporting a “Syracuse China” back-stamp in 1895. As the first American company to produce high quality vitreous china, Syracuse was a top choice for hotels, clubs, airplanes, trains, cruise ships, and restaurants all over the world.

With its timeless, homey quality, this versatile side plate was traditionally used in restaurants for small sides or a dinner roll & butter pat. We love this size for appetizers or to accompany a charcuterie or cheese board. Acquired as part of a full collection of  matching plates, bowls and cups, we were excited to add these to the shop!
