Church Fenton is a village in northern England and was home to a Royal Air Force defense station that opened in 1937 during the RAF's expansion in response to Hitler's increase in the strength of the German armed forces. The Church Fenton station's primary role was to protect northern England's important industrial cities of Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford and Humberside from attack by German bombers. In July 1959, the role of the Church Fenton air defense station changed to that of pilot training, which it continued until the station was closed in 2013.

Of a quality befitting the highest standards of the Royal Air Force, this exceptional shaker with its storied provenance, is sure to be a centerpiece on your home bar serving up your favorite libations with the high-flying confidence of the noble RAF.

Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. 8"H x 3.25"D. In excellent restored vintage condition.

Learn More About the Royal Air Force

Per Ardua ad Astra
"Through Adversity to the Stars"

Founded in 1918, the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom is the oldest independent air force in the world. With the First World War coming to a close, the Royal Air Force was formed by the joining of the British Army's air division - the Royal Flying Corps, as well as the Royal Naval Air Service.  Combined, those air divisions became the largest independent air force at that time.

Its mission statement  was simple: to provide "...An agile, adaptable and capable Air Force that, person for person, is second to none..."  That mission statement was put to the test during World War II in what is likely the longest and most complicated air campaign in history: the Battle of Britain.  Indeed, the Royal Air Force's steely determination is credited with stopping Hitler's plans for an invasion of the United Kingdom.  Although they were outnumbered against the German Luftwaffe, the Royal Air Force fearlessly defended the skies over Britain against a relentless onslaught for nearly 4 months, bringing about a crucial turning point in the war.

Describing the heroism of the Royal Air Force during that epic Battle of Britain, Winston Churchill said "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few."
