Ever-so-chic while ensuring a hostess could dictate the most advantageous (and hierarchical) seating around the dining table as well as impress guests with her elaborate menu planning savvy, holders flourished in popularity beginning in the Edwardian era. While customarily reserved today for special occasions or more formal seating arrangements, place cards make a lovely touch when added to the table for dinner party guests or to label distinctive offerings presented buffet-style for brunch or informal gatherings.

A charming treasure recently spotted at market, this set of 4 Vintage English Royal Crown Derby Floral Place Card Holders is brimming with natural charm. Each diminutive stand is adorned with dimensional, hand-painted fleurs and gilt highlights. With a central opening to hold a name card, label or photo, the sweet holders were executed in creamy porcelain by the premier Royal Crown Derby and carry a date stamp for 1972. Founded in 1750 by artist Andrew Planche, who established the first china works in Derby, Royal Crown Derby's remarkable royal connection began in 1761 with the creation of a commemorative piece celebrating the coronation of England's King George III. 

In sweet shades of blossom pink, leafy green, forget-me-not blue, sweet violet and soft yellow, these enchanting holders promise to add romance and grace to the table while bringing the essence of a spring garden in bloom to your next dinner party.
