With over 200 years of history, Pernod is the oldest French brand of anise spirits. Founded in the early 1800s in Switzerland by Henri-Louis Pernod, the company became famous for its legendary spirits containing extracts of absinthe.
Both of Henri-Louis' sons, Edouard and Louis, followed in their father's footsteps creating their own brands of absinthe: Edouard Pernod and Pernod Fils. Eventually the brothers merged their companies under the Pernod Fils name and following the French ban on absinthe in 1915, created a reformulated version with a fresh, original flavor based on star anise, but without the hallucinogenic wormwood.

With its charming stature and oh-so-French decoration, the sturdy pressed glass bucket is In very good vintage condition and perfectly captures the beloved je ne sais quoi spirit of the French bistro style.
