Victorian Pale Blue Glass Dish

Found as part of an exciting collection at market, we were enchanted by the captivating shades of these Victorian Blue Slag Glass Dishes, made by Challinor-Taylor & Co. in the pattern called Loopy and Eye or Scroll and Eye, or Lace Edge.
Based in Tarentum, Pennsylvania, Challinor, Taylor & Co. was a standout among the American glassmakers of the 19th century, celebrated for their pressed glassware in luminous hues—especially the delicate, milky blue now known to collectors as “Challinor blue.” Operating from the 1880s into the early 20th century, the company produced fanciful pieces in opaque and translucent glass, often molded with scrolls, florals, and playful Victorian motifs. Their glassware, both decorative and utilitarian, brought a touch of affordable elegance to American homes. Though long since shuttered, their softly glowing creations remain beloved reminders of a golden age of domestic design.
With a design sensibility that remains fresh and timeless, each of these gorgeous dishes makes a pretty presentation at table or a striking piece of art. Whether to begin a blue milk glass collection or enhance an established display, these too-lovely-to-store-away dishes promise to bring serene blue charm to any setting.
