Vintage Grey Spraymist Sauce Dish

Vintage Grey Spraymist Sauce Dish

Produced by the now defunct Shenango China Company of New Castle, Pennsylvania, a shallow Sauce Dish with a warm grey spraymist decoration around its rim.  Traditionally used not only for sauces, but also for a side of vegetables or fruit.

4 1/2" in diameter.  Microwave, Dishwasher and Oven Safe.  Limited quantities and subject to prior sale.

Rescued from a long-shuttered restaurant supply warehouse in Chicago, we are proud to offer a limited collection of unused American-made china.  Produced from the 1920s to the 1960s, these nostalgic pieces are about as honest and pure as dinnerware gets.  Clean, simple shapes decorated with the colors and patterns reminiscent of their era.  And above all, these pieces are of a quality that is near impossible to find today at any price.

Founded in 1901, Shenango China was a major producer of quality restaurantware and even provided china for the White House during the terms of Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower and Lyndon Johnson.  The kilns of Shenango China no longer produce their beautiful wares as the company was closed in the late 1980s.
