Vintage French Salers Bistro Carafe

Vintage French Salers Bistro Carafe

$78.00

In 1885, Alfred Labounoux, a distiller in the Auvergne region of south-central France, was inspired to create a completely new liqueur using yellow gentian plants which he collected on the slopes of the nearby Puy Mary mountain, near the village of Salers.

The oldest brand of gentian aperitif, Salers quickly became popular throughout the Massif Central region of France and before long was introduced in Paris where it became so successful that local production facilities were set up.

The brand’s founders understood the value of advertising very early on, and Salers has a wonderful history of advertising campaigns. In 1938, Salers was one of the main sponsors of the Tour de France with iconic poster art created to advertise the brand.

Found at market outside of Paris, we are so pleased to present a Vintage Bistro Carafe produced exclusively by Salers for use in cafés & bistros. Made of thick glass, the carafe bears the colorful Salers name. This vintage find perfectly captures the certain je ne sais quoi charms of timeless French bistro style.

Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In very good vintage condition 7.25"H x 3"D.
