The name Gitanes literally means "gypsy woman" and the brand has long been a fixture throughout France stirring heady visions of glamorous old film stars and effortlessly chic French living. One by one the Gitanes cigarette factories of France have all closed and today there is only one factory in the Netherlands where the cigarettes are still in production.
