Vintage Fish Platter

Vintage Fish Platter

The tradition of serving and eating fish and seafood on specially designed plates dates all the way back to ancient Greece. As early as the 5th century B.C., plates were being decorated with images of fish. From ancient to modern times, from the Old to the New World, this tradition has continued through the centuries and a set of china dedicated only to serving fish is still considered part of any complete tableware collection.

Case in point: this vintage fish serving platter recently found at market. Produced by Naaman Israel, a famed Israeli ceramic and porcelain maker, the platter is decorated with a gorgeously detailed image of a pike swimming among the seaweed, with a smaller fish and trio of snails as companions.

Whether hung on the wall, displayed in a china cabinet, or dressing the table, this handsome set is sure to become a beloved addition to your home.

Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale (at time of listing, two platters are available). In very good vintage condition. 14.25" L x 6.5" W.
