Vintage French Dubonnet Match Strike

Vintage French Dubonnet Match Strike

$200.00

A clever and handsome find from the markets of France, this Antique Matchstrike once served as a promotional piece provided to bistros and cafés.

Produced for Dubonnet, the aperitif of choice by the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and Nelson Rockefeller, this vintage matchstrike was used to promote their brand of fortified wine. Founded in 1846 by Joseph Dubonnet, this herbaceous, spicy and sweet wine was sold in response to a competition run by the French Government to find a way of persuading French Foreign Legionnaires in North Africa to drink quinine.

Light a match in true fashion and ease by simply striking a strike anywhere match along the unglazed ridged center to ignite the flame. This practical find will serve you well and store your every match in elegant vintage style. Strike anywhere matches not included.

Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale.  In very good vintage condition. 3 1/8" x 4".
