Each goblet features a substantial flared bowl encircled by finely engraved floral, foliate, and star motifs. Bands of precise vertical cutting and polished oval facets below brilliantly capture and refract the light, while the lower bowl is deeply fluted before meeting the glass's most distinctive feature: a dramatic faceted pedestal stem rising from a substantial square foot. At this larger scale, the contrast between the delicacy of the engraved decoration and the strong geometry of the base is particularly striking, giving each goblet an impressive presence at the table.

Founded in the forests of Småland, Sweden, in 1742, Kosta Glasbruk takes its name from its founders, Anders Koskull and Georg Bogislaus Staël von Holstein—combining the opening portions of Koskull and Staël to create "Kosta." Established to supply glass to Stockholm and Karlskrona, the glassworks has remained in operation for nearly three centuries and is today part of Kosta Boda, one of the great names in Swedish glassmaking.
