Merry Scalloped Presentation Plate
"A Merry Christmas, uncle! God save you!" ~ Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
A beloved word connoting jolly cheer and festivity, the word "Merry" has been associated with Christmas at least since 1534, with the first recorded usage of the phrase "Merry Christmas" in a dated letter from bishop John Fisher to Henry VIII's chief minister Thomas Cromwell. Also used in the 16th century carol "We Wish you a Merry Christmas," the phrase was further popularized by Charles Dickens in A Christmas Carol and early mass produced Christmas cards of the 1800s.
In testament to the joys of the season, we are delighted to present a charming scalloped stoneware presentation plate which declares "Merry" in a gorgeous red handwritten font. Perfect for serving seasonal treats or displaying as a truly merry accent on your table!
