Halloween Hounds

For eleven months of the year, these two are perfectly respectable neighborhood dogs. But come October, all bets are off. Dressed respectively as a jaunty little devil and a particularly cheerful jack-o'-lantern, our Halloween Hounds have spent weeks carefully mapping the village houses most likely to distribute the good treats.

Their annual trick-or-treat strategy is remarkably sophisticated: begin promptly at dusk, avoid any house known to offer raisins, and make a second pass wherever unattended treat bowls have been spotted. The pumpkin-clad member of the operation handles reconnaissance, while his devilish accomplice—whose innocent expression has gotten them out of more than one scrape—carries the emergency snack supply.

Ready for a night of tricks, treats, and entirely unsupervised mischief, these festive pups are proof that Halloween really has gone to the dogs.
