Vintage French Porcelain Covered Chicken Casserole Dish
Vintage French Porcelain Covered Chicken Casserole Dish
$275.00
Created by Jacques Lobjoy, the mid-century French designer of classic bistroware, we are thrilled to present this oh-so-French Vintage Oval Casserole with its charming Chicken Lid. Produced in the 1970s by the revered Parisian pottery Porcelaine d'Auteuil, this bright-white porcelain covered casserole features a handsome chicken as the handle on its lid.
Traditionally used in French kitchens for cooking and serving a whole trussed chicken, covered casseroles like this one make a spectacular cook-and-serve dish for any baked-chicken recipe. The underside is left unglazed for maximum heat absorption.
This distinctive dish is trimmed in cheery red along with a thin band of black and has side handles for ease of transport from the kitchen to the table. A handsome casserole dish that blends the spirit of classic bistroware with that of a homey French kitchen, this heirloom covered dish will be a centerpiece in your kitchen as well as on your table.
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In excellent vintage condition. 12.5" wide x 9"H x 7". Approximate capacity is 3.75 quarts.
