from the French, (se) souvenir to remember.
Of all the man-made structures in the world, one of the most recognizable, romantic and beloved is certainly Gustave Eiffel's magnificent tower.
Officially unveiled at the Paris World's Fair of 1889, the Eiffel Tower originally had a surprising number of critics. Today, however, the tower is considered an architectural wonder and attracts more visitors than any other paid tourist attraction in the world. Replicas of the Eiffel Tower, both large and small, have been popular souvenirs for visitors to the tower since its opening.
Lovingly collected at market in France, we are thrilled to share with you this Belle Époque Tour Eiffel Souvenir Jewelry Box, reminiscent of the City of Light. Dating from the early 1900s, this nostalgic and romantic box has served as a lasting memory from a special place. With thick, beveled glass panels and delicate metal detailing, the interior is lined with tufted French Blue silk fabric, padded to safely hold the most precious, favored piece of jewelry. Making this stunning box even more exquisite, beautiful gilt metal garlands of lush flowers appear on each side, joined at each of the four corners with a stately tassel.
Decorating the lid is a hand-colored photograph of Paris' most iconic landmark, graced with delicate touches of luminous mother-of-pearl. Faded, yet still visible below the iconic landmark, the box reads 'Paris La Tour Eiffel.' Whether it evokes a certain memory of your own time in Paris or inspires future travels, we are confident this lasting find will delight in its final journey - to you.
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In original antique condition with areas of paint loss and image separation from the upper lid, commensurate with age as seen in the alternate images. 2"W x 2.25"D x 3"H.
