Antique Silverplate Hotel Netherland Tea Pot

Antique Silverplate Hotel Netherland Tea Pot

$260.00

One of New York's legendary historic hotels, the Hotel Netherland was commissioned by William Waldorf Astor and opened its doors in 1893. At 17 stories, the neo-Romanesque building was the tallest hotel structure in the world. Its popular restaurant, Sherry's was owned by famed New York restaurateur, confectioner and hotelier, Louis Sherry and operated from 1919 until the hotel was razed in 1927. When the Netherland was torn down, it was replaced with the equally opulent Sherry-Netherland Hotel which still stands today as one of Manhattan's great grand hotels.

Produced by America's venerable Gorham Silversmiths exclusively for the Hotel Netherland of New York, this charming teapot harkens back to the luxury of its day. Engraved on one side with the name Hotel Netherland, the opposite side of the pot is decorated with the hotel's coat of arms crest. The pot is bottom-stamped with Gorham's date code for 1919.

Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In good original antique condition with gentle signs of wear and use.
