Here's to your health!
This delightful, Antique Portieux French Cordial Set is "just what the doctor ordered" for any well-appointed bar or special celebration. The exquisite decanter with its diminutive glasses and serving tray are rendered in the palest of robin's egg blue - one of the signature shades for which Lorraine's famed Portieux glassworks is known.
With a rich history dating from 1690, Portieux produced highly prized decorative pieces in both opaline and clear glass. Most praised for developing a proprietary formula for a rich blue opaline glass, the firm employed as many as 1,000 workers in the 18th century. Symbiotic collaboration between glass blowers at its Vosges headquarters and artists at a secondary location in what became Vallerysthal, Germany after European border changes in the 19th century, Portieux created a wide portfolio that encompassed traditional design as well as influential Bohemian art glass trends.
With a breathtaking translucency and free-hand, artisan-applied gold embellishment in a playful botanic motif on the decanter and glasses, this gleaming set is perfectly sized for after dinner spirits and is sure to become a dramatic addition to your home bar or dining room display.
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. Set of six cordial glasses, decanter and tray in very good antique condition. Decanter measures 8.75" tall x 3.75". Glasses measure 3.5" x 1.5". Tray measures 9" x 9".
