Antique French Majolica Apple Pitcher
$175.00
First appearing in 1851 at the Great Exhibition in London, majolica ware is richly colored pottery with designs based on plant and animal motifs. By the time it was exhibited at the 1855 Paris World's Fair, it had taken both Europe and the Americas by storm with the bourgeoisie on both sides of the Atlantic falling in love with these colorful, nature inspired ceramics. The love affair with majolica continues even today, reviving this old art form through modern collecting.
Just in time for apple-picking and cider sipping season, this cheerful Antique Majolica Apple Pitcher would be right at home in the classic French country kitchen. Delicious pommes ripening on a leafy branch in the late summer sun are the centerpiece of this colorful pitcher, while the background is a textured, overall flower pattern glazed a pale shade of sunny-sky blue.
Rich in antique French charms, we know you'll cherish this this one-of-a-kind treasure.
