Found at market, this Antique Limoges Hand-Painted Pheasant Platter is an ornate treasure that will bring a true touch of French elegance into your home. This hand-painted porcelain plate depicts a quaint and curious pheasant couple in the pastoral beauty of a fern-draped riverbed at sunrise.
Stamped with "Limoges Coronet" and signed by the artist, this item was made of Limoges porcelain and decorated at the Paris workshop of the George Borgfeldt company, a New York importer. Borgfeldt items are highly collectible and are known for their intricate hand-painted designs and detailed gold trim, as seen to their fullest effect in this lovely piece. This beautiful platter has been decorated using Borgfeldt's distinctive mixtion technique in which color-printed transfer images were finished with hand-painted detail, while the scalloped edges have been trimmed in gilt.
