Antique Hotel Downey Teapot

Antique Hotel Downey Teapot

$225.00

Opening its doors in 1854, the Hotel Downey offered Lansing, Michigan's most elegant downtown accomodations. The 5-story hotel was popular with political dignitaries visiting the state's capital, as well as automobile executives doing business with Oldsmobile, which at that time was headquartered in Lansing.

As the twentieth century progressed, the Hotel Downey began to lose its appeal and by 1937 it was torn down to make way for another famous Lansing building, the Knapp Center.

Produced by Reed & Barton, this handsome teapot bears the famed silversmith's larger 1898-1902 hallmark stamp. It is also bottom-stamped with the name of the hotel. In good antique condition, the teapot is certain to be a beloved addition to your silver collection.

Circa 1902. 5" x 7" spout to handle. In good antique condition with the worst sign of age being a couple of small spots on the bottom of the pot where the silver has flaked off. These spots are shown in the alternate images.
