Learn More About Asparagus
Asparagus is a member of the lily-of-the-valley family and is unique in having no leaves, but rather delicate "photosynthetic" branches. Once known as sparrow grass, asparagus was not considered a food, but rather a cure for everything from heart trouble to toothaches - it was even supposed to prevent bee stings! Today we love it for its deliciously sweet, fresh flavor that perfectly captures the joys of early summer.
