Antique French Hair Cream Tins

Antique French Hair Cream Tins

Found at a Sunday market on the banks of the Gave du Pau River in the town of Orthez in the Basque region of France, we are pleased to have found a wonderful collection of unused Antique French Hair Cream Tins.

Called Crème Duchesse, we were taken with the charming antique graphics, golden detail, and pretty antique aesthetic. Produced by the Maison Mayence - a beauty supply house in turn-of-the-century France, the hair cream promised to strengthen hair and facilitate curls.

Wondrous in color and detail, each unused tin is bottom labeled in varying fragrances of the crèmes they would have carried : Lilas (lilac), Violette (violet), Musc (musk), Œillet (carnation), Peau d'Espagne (Spanish leather), Chevre Feuille (honeysuckle), Vanille (vanilla), Rose, Heliotrope, and Foin Coupé (fresh cut grass).

Delightful in nature, we are sure these antique tins will lovingly safe-keep all your tiny bits and bobs (along with your nerve pills) in a truly French fashion.

Strictly limited quantities and subject to prior sale. 1 5/8" x 1 1/4". Circa 1900. Please allow us to choose the perfect tin for you. Please note, as these tins were never used, they do not have any lingering fragrances.  They are in good antique condition with varying degrees of wear and fading.
