Antique French Ceramic Plum Plateau
Antique French Ceramic Plum Plateau
$150.00
Found at market in Paris and dating from the 1920s, this delightful ceramic plateau captures all the nostalgia and romance of a time gone by. Inspired by the lasting beauty of nature, the flat ceramic plate is "spritzdekor" decorated with a cluster of ripe plums hanging from a leafy branch. (The German word spritzdekor, refers to a spray ("spritz") design on ceramics. This method of decoration was typically produced in Germany, Czechoslovakia and Belgium during the 1920s and 30's.) Using a pleasing palette of deep purples, greens and browns, the plateau is finished with a rim of chrome-plated pewter and stands confidently on its decorative feet.
Used as a trivet to protect the table from a hot serving dish or pot (we like to imagine a fresh plum tart straight out of the oven!), this very special plateau is a true and lasting treasure, sure to be a lovely addition to your serveware collection.
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In good vintage condition with a spot of light staining and wear to the chrome-plating as shown in the alternate images. 1.25" tall x 9" in diameter.
