With a bright and merry tone, we are so pleased to present these sparkling Antique English Cranberry Glass Wedding Bells. Hand-blown and finished with care in the late 1800s, these dramatic bells were often given as wedding gifts during the reign of Queen Victoria and came to be known as wedding bells.
The captivating ruby glow of the shapely glass cloche catches the light, splashing vibrant color into the room. With its tear drop glass clapper producing a delicate musical ring as it gently strikes the glass bell, these captivating bells reflect the Victorian penchant for ornamental wares and highlight the popularity of cranberry glass in 19th century Britain.
Produced as two separate pieces, each bell's blown glass handle is secured into the top of the bell with plaster of Paris which also anchors the suspended glass clapper. The large and small bells have clear blown-glass handles, while the medium bell has an exquisite handle of pale blue opaline glass.
Whether displayed as a trio in a dramatic collection, or individually, these captivating antique bells are a sparkling treasure that share the opulent charms of Victorian England even still.
