Dating from the 1950s to the 1980s, these nostalgic, American-made pieces are about as honest as dinnerware gets. Clean, simple shapes decorated with the colors and patterns reminiscent of their era. And above all, these pieces are of a quality that is near impossible to find today at any price.
Learn More About McNicol-Martin China
McNicol China was one of many pottery companies that once flourished throughout the Ohio River Valley. The company was founded by D.E. McNicol in East Liverpool, Ohio in 1892. In 1914, the company built an additional plant containing 7 kilns in Clarksburg, West Virginia. By 1927 they had moved most of their operation to Clarksburg where they concentrated on restaurant, hotel and railroad china.
The company changed hands several times over the years and in 1966, George Martin became a partner in the business and changed the name to McNicol-Martin China Company. Unfortunately, they were not able to keep the business viable and by 1969 the kilns were emptied and the doors were closed forever.
