$32.00
A dazzling delight in shimmering glass, these engraved crystal glasses from the renowned English makers at Webb Corbett are certain to add gorgeous shimmer to any occasion.
Beautifully engraved with swags and tendrils of delicate flowers, leaves, and berries, each piece was made individually by hand. Each could require more than twenty artisans to see a piece through its journey to completion: from preparing a wooden mold, mixing and melting the batch of glass ingredients, blowing the molten glass, grinding, rinsing, copper wheel engraving decoration, polishing, painting, and burning off gold detailing before firing.
Few companies before or since have manufactured glass to this exacting standard, making these very special glasses an incredible addition to your collection - whether on a fully set table, solo for a quiet cocktail, or for use as a petite vase.
Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In very good vintage condition, circa 1930s and 1940s. Handwashing recommended. Double Old Fashioned: 3.5"D x 4.5"H. Tumbler: 3.5"D x 5"H. Water: 3"D x 4.25"H. Sold individually and in limited quantities.
Learn More About Webb Corbett
Founded in 1897 in the historic glassmaking town of Stourbridge, England, Webb Corbett began its life when two grandsons of the renowned glass family (Herbert Webb and Thomas Webb III) joined forces with George Harry Corbett — acquiring the White House Glass Works at Wordsley from its previous owners. From the outset, they positioned Webb Corbett as a distinct and independent venture — entirely separate from the older family firm Thomas Webb & Sons (which later became another famed name in Stourbridge crystal).
Early on Webb Corbett demonstrated a willingness to experiment and innovate: before the First World War they produced enamel-decorated glass adorned with floral and fruit motifs, and in the 1920s they launched a striking colored-glass line known as “Agate Flambé,” a mottled effect evocative of natural agate — a bold departure from the more traditional clear crystal for which Stourbridge was best known.
As the decades advanced, Webb Corbett became celebrated for its mastery of cut and engraved crystal tableware and vases — prized for their weight, clarity and intricate workmanship.
