When he arrived in Seville in 1841 at the very beginning of the Industrial Revolution, Charles Pickman brought with him an ambitious spirit and the desire to set up a fine pottery business to compete with his English counterparts.

The son of a respected English merchant and potter, Charles quickly fell for the charms of southern Spain and set up a factory at the abandoned 15th century "La Cartuja" monastery in Seville. As Mr. Pickman's business flourished, international recognition followed and, by 1871, La Cartuja was the preferred supplier of the Spanish Royal household.

Found at market, a collection of charming trinket dishes made by the esteemed potters of La Cartuja de Sevilla. With a free-form round shape and romantic details trimming the border, the little dishes are decorated with an antique tureen graphic celebrating the china company's first prize awards at international exhibitions in 1907 and 1908.

Produced as a memento for the Universal Exposition which was held in Seville in 1992 in the same location as the original La Cartuja pottery factory, these very unique little dishes will be the perfect spot to hold your rings, earrings, cufflinks...anything that needs a special little home!

Limited quantities subject to prior sale. In very good vintage condition with crazing on some of the trays. Measures 4.5" in diameter. Please choose your preferred color from the drop down menu above.
