Antique Daguerreotype Framed Portrait - Woman

Antique Daguerreotype Framed Portrait - Woman

Developed in 1839 in by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre of France, daguerreotype images are beautiful, lasting remnants of early photography.

Fashioned from a sheet of silverplated copper and polished to a mirror-like finish, a daguerreotypist would then treat the sheet with specialized fumes and expose in a camera to achieve the desired portrait. Preserved in glass thereafter, the images are seemingly glowing, evocative, and certainly captivating.

Found at market just outside of Paris, a Daguerreotype Framed Portrait from a private collection. Each one more interesting than the next, each portrait remains preserved in their original bright golden frame, sharing a certain beauty and nostalgia even still.

Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. 2.5" x 3.5".
