Antique French Mother-of-Pearl & Silver Salt
Antique French Mother-of-Pearl & Silver Salt
A shimmering little treasure, this Antique French Mother-of-Pearl and Silver Salt Cellar was one of the team's favorite finds during our recent visit to the autumn markets of Paris. Artfully fashioned from an iridescent mother-of-pearl shell, the delicate bowl rests upon an elegant silver pedestal, with sculptural silver mounts embracing its graceful curves. A luminous pearl-like accent and deep garnet-red stone provide the perfect finishing touches, lending this exquisite little piece an almost jewel-like beauty.
Made by the celebrated Parisian silversmiths Lagriffoul & Laval, whose maker's mark was registered in 1899, this exceptional salière reflects the artistry of French decorative silver. Based at 157 rue du Temple in Paris, the firm was renowned for its fine silver tableware and beautifully mounted decorative objects, combining traditional craftsmanship with elegant design.
With its enchanting combination of natural mother-of-pearl and finely worked silver, this extraordinary little salt cellar is as much an objet d'art as a practical addition to the table. Certain to delight guests and collectors alike, it promises to grace your table with sophistication, refinement and a little touch of Parisian magic.
