Lovingly crafted from thick beveled glass and a gilt metal frame embellished with decorative flourishes, the interior of the box is lined in a gently faded rose hued fabric intended to safely hold the most precious, favored piece of jewelry. On its lid, the name of the town's historic church is hand-engraved in a beautifully detailed cursive script, with the words Notre Dame abbreviated as N.
