Vintage Framed Parisian Postcard Pair c. 1930

Found at market on our latest trip to Paris, we are thrilled to present a pair of cartorama French postcards circa 1930. With cleverly illustrated images of two iconic Parisian cityscapes: Île de la Cité and a view of the Boulevard de la Madeleine in the Opéra District, the postcards have delightful die-cut edges.

Île de la Cité, an island in the center of Paris on the river Seine, has been important to Paris since the 4th century. Once the site of Clovis I's (first King of the Franks) palace, it is now the home of Notre-Dame cathedral, the Palais de Justice, and the site of the city's oldest surviving bridge, the Pont Neuf.

The Boulevard de la Madeleine is one of Paris's four grand boulevards, and the postcard shows the iconic La Madeleine church, the Colonne Vendôme, and the Palais Garnier opera house.
